Netflix leases New York's Paris Theatre
NFLX (Netflix Inc.) | Tech Crunch
Netflix is expanding its theatrical presence by signing a long-term lease for The Paris Theatre, a historic single-screen venue in New York City. This follows reports that Netflix is also working to buy the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles. So by buying or leasing theaters of its own, Netflix can ensure that its films will get the cachet of a big-screen release. As for the Paris Theatre, it opened in 1948, and reopened earlier this month to screen “Marriage Story.” (By the way: I highly recommend seeing “Marriage Story” on the big screen — I’ve already done so twice.) “After 71 years, the Paris Theatre has an enduring legacy, and remains the destination for a one-of-a kind movie-going experience,” said Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos in a statement.

FAA says it again: Boeing's 737 Max is not ready for certification
BA (The Boeing Company) | CNBC
The FAA issued a new statement, saying, "The FAA has not completed its review of the 737 Max aircraft design changes and associated pilot training. With just 35 days left in 2019, the FAA is making it increasingly clear it is unlikely to recertify the Boeing 737 Max this year, a target Boeing has been eyeing for months. Four days after Boeing's statement, Dickson released an internal letter he sent to the FAA's associate administrator who oversees the Max certification process. For the 737 Max to be recertified to fly this year it will have to clear several hurdles in a short time. In its latest statement, the FAA said, "Issuance of the Airworthiness Certificate is the final FAA action affirming that each newly manufactured 737 Max is airworthy."

Disney+ looks more like Netflix every day, and that's a good thing
DIS (The Walt Disney Company) | The Next Web
Disney today added another missing feature to its Disney+ streaming platform — and with it, the platform is starting too look an awful lot like its fellow services, namely Netflix. I have praised the features of Disney+ before — such as its transparency on when its missing movies would be added. While I’m sure Disney would prefer to differentiate its service from its successful predecessor, the fact remains that it’s following the leader pretty darned closely. And now with the addition of the Continue Watching feature, it looks more like it than ever. I would argue Disney made the right choice — it might have had more to lose by trying to be radically different from Netflix.

HPE (Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company) | Bleeping Computer
HP released firmware updates for a number of its Serial-Attached SCSI solid-state drives to prevent their failure at exactly 32,768 hours of operation time. The abnormal expiration time translates to 3 years, 270 days and 8 hours, a lot less than the normal lifespan of these products. In total, HP lists 20 drives affected by the issue. For the rest of them, the company plans to release a firmware update in the second week of December.
