Amazon says it’s considered face scanning in Ring doorbells
AMZN (Amazon.com Inc.) | The Washington Post
Markey wrote to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos in September raising privacy and civil liberty concerns about Ring’s video-sharing agreements with police departments across the country. Amazon’s initial response to Markey said Ring doesn’t currently offer facial recognition. Then Markey sent another letter to Bezos asking why it’s mentioned in Ring’s privacy policy. ADBut Amazon also said it doesn’t require law enforcement to delete a user’s video footage after a certain period. Markey said Tuesday that Amazon is not doing enough to ensure that its products don’t run afoul of civil liberties.

NTSB calls for redesign of Boeing 737 NG part after woman killed by Southwest engine explosion
BA (The Boeing Company) | ABC News
The National Transportation Safety Board is calling for Boeing to redesign the engine covers on all of their Boeing 737 NG aircrafts following its investigation into a Southwest plane's engine failure that resulted in the death of a passenger. When engine fan blades break, the debris is supposed to be contained and eject out the rear of the engine. In 2018, the FAA issued an Air Worthiness directive that required more rigorous inspections of engine fan blades. After the NTSB meeting, the FAA issued a statement saying it will carefully review and respond to the NTSB recommendations. Southwest Airlines is currently operating an all-Boeing 737 NG fleet since the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX.

The deal will require regulatory and foreign investment clearance from European jurisdictions, including the European Union.

DoorDash hit with lawsuit alleging it misled customers over driver tips
DoorDash | CNET
DoorDash is continuing to deal with the fallout around its tipping policy. The attorney general of Washington, DC, Karl Racine, filed a lawsuit against the food delivery company on Tuesday, saying it used "deceptive" practices. The suit alleges DoorDash misled customers, making them believe their tips were going to delivery workers when the money actually went into the company's pockets. After customer backlash, DoorDash changed its tipping policy in August to give all tips to its delivery workers -- or as the company calls them "Dashers." The way DoorDash's policy worked is the company would pay delivery workers a base rate for each delivery.
