Apple's Accelerating Tablet Dominance Is Underappreciated
AAPL (Apple Inc.) | Seeking Alpha
Apple's (AAPL) iPad is already the most popular tablet, but its dominance is likely to only increase this year and probably through 2020. Apple's tablet dominance is also likely to become considerably more meaningful in a world of slowing smartphones sales and expanding device cycles. Many of the iPad tablet models went on deep discount on Amazon, and that apparent permitted discounting has since expanded to include additional expected major retailers. Apple's market share in tablets was already about 1/3rd, but it increased to above 38% last quarter. The market has not fully appreciated Apple's accelerating tablet dominance, but that is likely to change this fall.

AMD lands Google, Twitter as customers with newest server chip
AMD (Advanced Micro Devices Inc.) | Money Control

AMD has tried to take advantage of that by courting some of Intel's biggest customers, such as Google. AMD said on Thursday that Google is using its second-generation EPYC server chip in Google's internal data centres and that Google will offer it to external developers as part of its cloud computing offerings later this year. It is the first time Google has publicly acknowledged using AMD's EPYC chips. In terms of performance, Moorhead said the new AMD chips are better than Intel's chips at some kinds of computing work but may lag on others.

Sears Is Closing a Bunch of Stores (Again)
Sears Holdings Corp | The Motley Fool
Last month, it closed a Sears store in Yonkers, New York, that was also traditionally a top-performing location. While there are five Kmarts on the list, the other 21 locations set to close are full-line Sears stores. Some landlords could benefit from store closuresAll but one of the Sears stores slated for closure this fall are located in malls. Furthermore, the longer the Sears stores stay vacant, the more they could damage the image of these malls, driving shoppers away. The loss of two more Sears stores probably won't be the difference between life and death for CBL & Associates.
