Meatless alternatives are on the rise — but so is global meat consumption
BYND (Beyond Meat Inc)  |  CNBC
When it comes to the burgers or steaks on your plate, looks and tastes can be deceiving as "meatless meat" and "plant-based meat" gain traction. Sales of meat alternative grew 30% in 2018 compared to the previous year, according to Nielsen Product Insider. While the alternative meat market could grow to be worth $140 billion globally in the next ten years, according to Barclays, it's still a small percentage of the current $1.4 trillion global meat market which is also showing no signs of slowing down. Yet, some critics argue there is no conclusive evidence that alternatives have better nutritional value than real meat.

Disney’s upcoming streaming service is even hotter than expected
DIS (The Walt Disney Company)  |  Yahoo Finance
Analysts at UBS found that interest in Disney+, the iconic media company’s [DIS] upcoming subscription streaming service, is even higher than the company expected. “This compares to Disney guidance for 20-30M US subscribers by 2024, or ~20-30% penetration of US broadband households,” the analysts note. “Interest was highest for younger demos as well as higher income households,” the UBS analysts added. “We continue to see Disney+ as well-positioned in the increasingly crowded streaming video market due to the strength of the Disney brand and content assets.”There is a ton of interest for Disney's new streaming service. “Its coming in November, and the price will significantly—severely, I think—undercut Netflix.”The service will cost $6.99 per month — or about half the price of a standard Netflix subscription.

Marijuana Study Finds CBD Can Cause Liver Damage
GWPH (GW Pharmaceuticals Plc)  |  Forbes
But a new study suggests that CBD may spawn its fair share of health issues. Researchers at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science recently rolled up their sleeves to investigate CBD hepatotoxicity in mice. Shockingly, researchers discovered that the mice given higher doses of CBD showed signs of liver damage within 24 hours. Although one study found that marijuana may actually help prevent liver damage in people with alcoholism, in some cases it worsened the condition. The latest study also finds that CBD has the potential for herbal and drug interactions.

T-Mobile and Sprint are reportedly nearing a deal with Dish to save their merger
S (Sprint Corporation )  |  The Verge
Dish is negotiating a deal to buy wireless spectrum and Boost Mobile from T-Mobile and Sprint, as the latter two companies look to finally receive approval for their huge, industry-reshaping merger. According to Bloomberg, Dish has emerged as the company most likely to purchase the assets that T-Mobile and Sprint are currently trying to offload in a bid to assuage the Justice Department’s concerns with the merger. The Justice Department is coming very close to giving the T-Mobile / Sprint deal a thumbs up, per Bloomberg. Adding assets from T-Mobile and Sprint to that stockpile would put Dish in a strong position. The DoJ’s likely approval of the $26.5 billion merger shows that T-Mobile and Sprint have managed quite a turnaround with Makan Delrahim, who oversees the antitrust division.

EU vs. Facebook: Libra Bitcoin rival already faces opposition
FB (Facebook Inc.)  |  BGR
Facebook on Tuesday announced the Bitcoin rival it has been developing for the better part of a year: Libra. From the start, Facebook insisted on how secure Libra would be, and on the fact that a subsidiary called Calibra will be in charge of Libra, and that a Libra Association would oversee the Libra blockchain. But now that Libra is official, it’s already facing opposition out of Europe. Facebook’s desire to handle payments won’t go unnoticed or unscrutinized in the region, and the French finance minister Bruno Le Maire already commented on Libra. “It is out of question” that Libra “become a sovereign currency,” Le Maire said in an interview with Europe 1 radio, per Bloomberg.
